About the company

Join an established structural steel fabrication business delivering quality fabricated steel for commercial and industrial projects. With a strong pipeline of work, the business is seeking an experienced Production Manager or Workshop Manager to lead its Gold Coast workshop operations.


About the role
This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for the day-to-day performance of the fabrication workshop. You will manage workshop personnel, production schedules, quality, safety and compliance while ensuring projects are completed efficiently and to specification.


Key responsibilities:
  • Manage daily structural steel fabrication and welding operations
  • Supervise boilermakers, welders, fabricators and workshop personnel
  • Plan workloads, labour requirements and production schedules
  • Monitor productivity, workflow, deadlines and project priorities
  • Maintain welding quality, documentation and fabrication standards
  • Implement management and administrative processes
  • Conduct compliance audits and maintain accurate records
  • Ensure WHS, QA and company procedures are followed
  • Coordinate materials, equipment, subcontractors and deliveries
  • Liaise with project managers, drafting, site and senior management
  • Identify production issues and implement practical improvements

Ideal skills and experience:
  • 15+ years’ experience within structural steel fabrication
  • Strong experience managing or a steel fabrication workshop
  • Welding Supervisor certification
  • Certificate in Engineering, Fabrication or a related discipline
  • Sound knowledge of welding, fabrication and structural steel standards
  • Strong production planning and people-management capabilities
  • Experience management systems, admin and compliance auditing
  • Strong understanding of workplace health, safety and quality assurance
  • Interpret workshop drawings and fabrication documentation
