About the company

Join an established steel fabrication business delivering structural steel, metalwork and fabrication projects across South East Queensland.

Based in the Gold Coast, the company is seeking an Estimator / Project Manager to join its experienced team.

This is a small, hands-on workshop with straightforward systems and close involvement from management.

The Estimator / Project Manager will have the opportunity to contribute ideas, improve processes and take ownership of project outcomes.


About the role

As the Estimator / Project Manager, you’ll prepare estimates for structural steel and metalwork projects, then manage assigned jobs through fabrication, delivery and completion.

Estimating is shared across the team, including management. As projects are awarded, individual jobs are allocated for each person to manage through to the finish.

The Estimator / Project Manager will prepare take-offs, price materials and labour, coordinate suppliers and fabrication schedules, and monitor project costs, variations and delivery requirements.

This role suits someone resourceful and adaptable who enjoys working within a small team. You’ll be comfortable using basic systems, learning how the workshop operates and developing practical processes that support the business.


Requirements for this role
  • 11+ years’ estimating experience within steel fabrication
  • Experience across structural steel, metalwork, light fabrication and/or pipework
  • Strong Excel skills for estimating and project costing
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and fabrication documentation
  • Practical understanding of fabrication methods and workshop operations
  • Previous project management or project coordination experience highly regarded
  • Engineering diploma, Certificate in Engineering or boilermaker trade qualification highly regarded
  • Strong organisation and communication skills to coordinate clients, suppliers and workshop teams
  • A flexible, hands-on approach with the ability to work independently, adapt and improve processes
