Civil Engineer – Contract Administration / Site Superintendent

About the role

This is a site-focused Civil Engineering position suited to an engineer who enjoys being out on projects rather than spending most of their time producing designs in the office.

Working on behalf of the engineering consultancy, you will spend the majority of your time on active project sites across South East Queensland, monitoring construction progress and ensuring civil works are being delivered in accordance with engineering designs, specifications and contract requirements.

You will act as an important link between the consulting engineers, contractors, clients and other project stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Conduct regular site inspections across civil and built environment projects
  • Monitor construction progress against engineering documentation
  • Assess the quality and compliance of civil works
  • Review implementation of engineering designs on site
  • Identify construction issues, variations and potential non-conformances
  • Liaise with contractors, clients, consultants and project stakeholders
  • Assist with contract administration and construction documentation
  • Review progress claims, variations and completion requirements
  • Attend site and project meetings
  • Provide practical engineering input throughout construction
  • Assist with inspections, practical completion and defect management
Requirements for this role
  • Degree qualification in Civil Engineering
  • Civil engineering experience within Australia
  • Experience working on civil construction sites
  • Understanding of civil engineering drawings, specifications and construction documentation
  • Experience across land development, council, residential, commercial or civil infrastructure projects
  • Contract administration or superintendent experience highly regarded
  • Ability to assess construction works against engineering design requirements
  • Strong contractor and stakeholder management skills
  • South East Queensland project experience preferred
  • RPEQ advantageous, but not essential
This is an excellent opportunity for a Civil Engineer who enjoys the practical side of engineering and wants to remain closely involved with projects throughout construction.

Rather than being primarily office-based producing design documentation, you will be out on site representing the engineering consultancy and helping ensure projects are constructed correctly and delivered to the required engineering standards.
