About the role

This dual-function role combines drafting, detailing, and CNC programming with close workshop collaboration. You’ll be responsible for translating engineering intent into clear, buildable documentation and accurate CNC programs, supporting projects from concept through to fabrication.

Draftsperson / CNC Operator | $85k + Super | Brisbane South | Senior drafting & CNC plasma role 

Key responsibilities include:
  • Producing 2D drawings, 3D models, and workshop drawings
  • Drafting and detailing steel components for fabrication
  • CNC plasma programming for cutting operations
  • Interpreting blueprints, work orders, and engineering documentation
  • Calculating dimensions, tolerances, angles, and material requirements
  • Supporting smaller projects with planning and sequencing
  • Working closely with the workshop to ensure drawings are practical and buildable
Requirements for this role
  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Extensive experience as a Draftsperson, CNC Programmer, CNC Operator, or similar
  • Strong CAD capability producing fabrication and workshop drawings
  • Experience programming CNC machinery; plasma cutting highly regarded
  • Background in heavy steel fabrication, mining, oil & gas, or engineering
  • Strong communication skills and hands-on technical approach
